Location
In 2002 the Ministry of Tourism named San Miguel de Allende a Pueblo Magicos. It was awarded this designation for its mystical and mythical character and for maintaining its original architecture, culture, folklore, and history intact.
Six years later, it was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It was awarded the distinction due to its cultural and architectural contribution to the Mexican Baroque and its importance in the struggle for the Independence of Mexico from Spain. Since then the accolades have kept coming!
Colonia Allende
Located in one of San Miguel's most distinguished gated communities in Colonia Allende Casa Alicia is perfect for walking around San Miguel and visiting all of the wonderful sites. A scenic 20-30 minute walk takes you to the Parroquia and El Jardin (the center of town), with buses and taxis passing in front of the casa every few minutes if you’d prefer. On the way, you will pass by dozens of restaurants, grocery stores, shops, galleries, and the historic Instituto Allende. Beautiful Juarez Park is also only a short walk. You’ll never grow bored – or hungry, during your stay at Casa Alicia!
